Recipes

Q: I need a recipe you published a few years ago. Can you help me?

A: Most of our recipes are available online. If you don’t see the one you want in Food & Entertaining, visit our sister site, http://www.tasteofhome.com/ and enter the recipe name or keyword in the Search box at the top of the page.

Q: That site won’t let me get to a recipe from your latest issue!

A: Most of our recipes are open for everyone to view; those from the past year, however, are available to subscribers to Country Woman or subscribers to any of the Taste of Home magazines.

Crafts

Q: I’m looking for a craft project from your current issue that mentioned patterns were available online. Where can I find it?

A: Click Magazine on the blue bar at the top of the page, and then choose the link to the craft from the issue’s table of contents.

Q: Your downloadable patterns aren’t working. Help!

A: Downloading patterns requires that you have Adobe Acrobat software on your computer. It’s free and installs quickly – download it here, now.

Q: Can you send me instructions and patterns from an issue from several years back?

A: We’re building our craft archive, and placing most instructions online, organized by technique and seasonality, so check under Crafts first. If it’s not there yet, please be patient—we’ve published many projects over the years and it may take awhile to get to them all. You can also try asking in our Community Chat or on our Facebook page.

Contact the Editors

Q: I am a professional photographer and would like to submit photos for publication. How do I do that?

A: Professional photographers wishing to share a photo for the enjoyment of sharing should selectively send photos to editors@farmandranchliving.com or editors@countrywomanmagazine.com as .jpg attachments. File size should be 1-2 MB, and please include information about the photo, such as where and when you took it, names of people or animals in the shot, why the scene caught your eye, a humorous or unusual story behind it, and any other information that would help us write about it.

Professional photographers seeking paid compensation for their photographs should send a link or lightbox of your best photos directly to: editors@farmandranchliving.com or editors@countrywomanmagazine.com.

Q: I am an artist and would like to paint one of the photographs in your magazine. Can I have permission to do so?

A: You are welcome to use photographs that appear in Farm & Ranch Living as models, provided that you are not trying to replicate the image exactly, and that the painting will not be sold for profit. If the work is ever publicly displayed, a placard should accompany it noting the work was “inspired by …” with credit to the photographer and our magazine, indicating where the photograph appeared.

Q: How do I enter your contests?

A: For information on our frequent recipe contests, along with any other current contests, please click here.

Q: Our club has a free newsletter that goes out to member. Is it OK if we include one of your articles, because it pertains to our hobby?

A: For nonprofit organization and club newsletters, an article may be reproduced exactly as it appears in our magazine, with a notation that “This article is reprinted with permission from Country Woman or Farm & Ranch Living. The original article appeared in the [month and year] issue.”

Q: It’s really important that your antique expert appraise my heirloom. Will she do it soon?

A: Our expert receives so many letters that it’s impossible for her to respond personally.

If there’s not a similar item already featured in What’s it Worth, email editors@lovethecountry.com and use “Antique Expert” as your subject line. Be sure to include: 1) Several well-lit, sharply focused shots of your item from several angles, making sure the entire item is visible and including any markings. 2) any information you have about the item and its history, including how long you’ve owned it. 3) your full name, mailing address and daytime phone number should our expert want to ask questions.

Photos need to be 300 dots per inch (dpi) and a file size that’s at least 1 MB to print clearly.

Q: How can I contribute to your Idea Gallery?

A: We love to see photos of the recipes and crafts you’ve made from Country Woman! Use our submission form here.

Q: Where are the kitchen floor plans?

A: In the Kitchen stories which can be found in Kitchen Design Ideas under Home and Garden. We obtain floor plans whenever possible, but some kitchens do not have one.

Q: Are you going to publish the story and photos I submitted months ago? I haven’t heard anything!

A: Thanks for sharing your material; our magazines depend on readers like you. With the volume of submissions we receive, we can no longer track the status of individual items, nor can we return materials, even with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. So please, make a copy before submitting.

We plan issues far in advance; we often keep material on file for long stretches of time, especially seasonal items. We do evaluate every submission carefully, and wish we had the space to share more of them.

Q: I’d like to contact someone featured in one of your stories. Can you help?

A: Sorry, we’re unable to forward contributors’ addresses or phone numbers. If the story mentions the person’s blog or website, you can try contacting them there.

Q: Can I still submit a story, photo or comment by mail?

A: Sure! Please refer to our Contributor Guidelines  for requirements.

Q: Where do I sign up for your free newsletters?

A: Right here!
