- One 200-yd. ball of size 5 white crochet cotton (shown: Grignasco Cotton 5)
- Size B (2.25 mm) crochet hook (or size needed to obtain correct gauge)
- 12-in. x 16-in. pillow form or polyester stuffing
- Two 13-in. x 17-in. pieces of red fabric for pillow
- All-purpose thread, red and white
- 2 yds. of ½-in-wide beaded trim
- Standard sewing supplies

GAUGE: When working with a size B hook, 9 dcs and 3 rows = 1 inch.
Dc2tog: Yo, insert hk in next st, yo drawing up a lp, yo and draw thread through 2 lps on hk, yo, insert hk in same ch-sp, yo drawing up a lp, yo and draw thread through 2 lps, yo and draw thread through remaining three loops on hk.
Row 1: Ch 66, dc in fourth ch from hk, dc in each remaining ch across, turn: 64 dcs.
Row 2: Ch 3 for first dc, work 2 dcs in next dc, ch 1, [sk next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1] across to last 2 sts, work 2 dcs in next st, dc in last st (turning ch), turn: 3 dcs, 30 sps, 3 dcs.
Row 3: Ch 3 for first dc, work 2 dcs in next dc, ch 1, [dc in next dc, ch 1] across to last 2 sts, work 2 dcs in next st, dc in last st (turning ch), turn: 3 dcs, 30 sps, 3 dcs.
Rows 4-42: Follow chart, beginning each row with ch 3, 2 dcs and ending each row with 3 dcs.
Row 43: Dc in each dc and ch-sp across: 64 dcs.
Round 1: Working around the post of sts at end of row, * work 2 scs in first row, [sk next row, work 9 trs in next row, sk next row, work 2 scs in next row] across to end. Across end, [sk 2 dcs, work 9 trs in next dc, sk 2 dcs, sc in next 2 dcs] across; repeat from * to beginning sc.
Round 2: [Ch 4, sk next st, sc in next st] around, join with a sl st in first ch of beginning ch-4. Fasten off.
Weave in all loose ends.
With right sides together and edges matching, sew the two pieces of red fabric together with red thread and a 1/2-inch seam, leaving an opening for turning and stuffing. Clip corners diagonally. Turn pillow right side out and insert pillow form or stuffing. Turn raw edges of opening in and hand-sew closed.
Wet-block crocheted piece. Let dry.
With white thread, hand-tack crocheted piece to front of pillow. With white thread, hand-tack beaded trim to inside edge of edging as shown in photo at far left, overlapping ends and trimming excess.
FINISHED SIZE: Pillow is 16 inches wide x 12 inches high.
