Win $500 in cold, hard cash.

When you can’t stand the heat, keep it out of your kitchen by entering our “Beat the Heat” recipe contest. We’re looking for recipes for entrees that let you turn up the flavor without getting all hot and bothered. This includes no-cook recipes, like sandwiches and main-dish salads, and ones that make use of the microwave, slow cooker and grill.

Toss up sensational meals-in-a-salad, including chicken Caesar, grilled flank steak and portobello, Tex-Mex Cobb, and seafood pasta salads. Or wrap and pack up a few picnic-perfect sandwiches, like lobster rolls, down-South muffulettas and smoked turkey sandwiches with honey-orange mayo.

Give your oven a summer vacation. Zap out microwaved entrees such as poached lemon sole, chicken and shrimp paella and peppered beef tenderloin. Or simmer down and let the slow cooker turn out luscious lasagna, stout-beef shanks and simple pork chops in cool comfort. Show us how you chill at the grill. Sizzle up flatbread pizza, pork tenderloin with garlic-mustard rub, salmon burgers with cucumber sauce, veggie wraps and barbecued ribs.

It’s a breeze to enter your hot-weather best. Send your entree recipes by the contest cutoff, Oct. 1, 2012. We’ll announce the winners in our June/July 2013 issue.
